Israel’s military strikes the Hamas refugee camp

  • Israeli aircraft struck a Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist compound, leading Palestinian officials to confirm at least one death.
  • Humanitarian aid was sent to Palestine by India.
  • Pope Francis urged an end to it and advocated for increased access to humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli aircraft struck a Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist compound, leading Palestinian officials to confirm at least one death. Israel issued a warning that it would intensify its attacks in the northern Gaza Strip after militants used the website to plan attacks against it.

Humanitarian aid was sent to Palestine by India, and the Israeli military has called on Gazans to relocate southward to avoid danger. A C-17 aircraft operated by the Israel Air Forces left for El-Arish airport in Egypt with approximately 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies and 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies for the people of Palestine.

Hamas Conflict

Following a 1,400-person cross-border Hamas attack on Gaza’s cities on October 7, Israel launched its “total siege” of the region. Hundreds of children were among the 4,385 Palestinians who died as a result of Israel’s air and missile strikes, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Amid the conflict between Israel and Hamas, 143 people, including two citizens of Nepal and four infants, boarded a special flight as part of Operation Ajay and set out for India.

Fearing that the conflict between Hamas and Israel might worsen, Pope Francis urged an end to it and advocated for increased access to humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.

Announcing that his country would continue working with Qatar to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau praised the country for its assistance in securing the release of two American civilians.

Today, Turkey dispatched a plane to Egypt bearing humanitarian aid for Gaza along with a medical team and supplies. As Israel gets ready to step up airstrikes to prepare the ground for a full-scale ground offensive, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is expected to get worse.
