In response to pressure from other countries for a ceasefire, Israel is launching “significant” strikes on Gaza. As they have advanced to the southern part of the city, the Israeli troops have encircled Gaza’s main city.

Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, has vowed that until the hostages are freed, a ceasefire will not be possible. A surprise attack by Hamas on southern Israel that claimed 1,400 lives marked the start of the war. Since Israel launched its offensive in response to the Hamas rampage, more than 9,700 people have lost their lives.

Calls for a Ceasefire

A humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza is urgently needed, according to the heads of the UN’s main humanitarian agencies and international charities, who have called the situation “horrific” and “unacceptable.”

Signed by the leaders of Save the Children, CARE International, the World Food Programme, UNICEF, OCHA, and the WHO, the statement emphasized the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Settlement.

Around 200 hostages had been taken during the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel, according to the statement. 1,400 people had died.

Along with nearly 9,500 deaths—including 3,900 children and over 2,400 women—and over 23,000 injuries that required emergency care in overburdened hospitals, the statement also brought attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

According to the statement, 88 UNRWA coworkers were among the many aid workers who lost their lives in the last month, making it the greatest number of UN fatalities ever reported in a single conflict.

Pope Francis has expressed concern over the “serious situation” in which many people have lost their lives and called for peace in Palestine and Israel. To prevent the conflict from getting worse, he called for an end to the use of weapons and the development of other strategies.

An Israeli strike in Lebanon killed three kids and their grandmother. In retaliation for a missile attack on tanks that resulted in the death of an Israeli citizen, Israel’s military launched attacks against Hezbollah terrorist targets in southern Lebanon.

In retaliation, Hezbollah fired rockets at Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel, declaring that it would never accept attacks against civilian targets. 54 tonnes of aid for Gaza, delivered by the French, arrived in Egypt this past weekend.
