Iran’s President Claims Retaliation Against Israel Is Justified Amid Growing Regional Tensions

In a rare and tense phone call, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian justified the potential for retaliation against Israel, describing it as a rightful act of defense against what he termed as severe and inhumane attacks on Gaza. This stance reflects Iran’s broader regional concerns and criticisms of Western silence on the violence in Gaza.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, in response, voiced serious concerns about the deteriorating situation and called for immediate de-escalation. He stressed that diplomatic efforts and humanitarian aid are crucial to mitigating further violence and achieving a ceasefire. Starmer’s comments underline the growing apprehension among Western leaders about the potential for a broader conflict.

The international community, including the UK, US, France, Germany, and Italy, has collectively urged Iran to halt its military threats against Israel. The leaders emphasized that continued aggression could severely destabilize the region, leading to further humanitarian and security crises.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have already initiated military drills near the Iraq border, signaling readiness for possible escalation. The assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, reportedly carried out in Tehran, remains a point of contention, with Israel neither confirming nor denying responsibility.

The situation remains highly volatile, with significant international pressure on Iran to avoid military action against Israel. Diplomatic efforts are critical in de-escalating tensions and preventing further regional instability.

“Retaliation against Israel is a right of nations and a solution for stopping crimes and aggression,” – President Masoud Pezeshkian.
