Berlin needs to end its “extreme subservience” to America and its international law-breaking foreign policies, according to the deputy leader of the Left party’s faction in the Bundestag Sevim Dagdelen. As a result, Germany must demand that the US withdraw its forces and nuclear arsenal from the country.
At a parliamentary celebration honoring the Marshall Plan’s 75th anniversary, Dagdelen declared, “After 78 years, it is now time for the US soldiers to go home.”
Withdrawal of US Forces
The MP, who is also a member of the parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, claimed that US military installations behave “like extraterrestrial zones where the [German] constitution does not apply.” According to Dagdelen, Washington uses its bases in Germany to conduct “lethal drone strikes” and wage wars overseas, some of which are “in violation of international law.”
Additionally, she criticized the regular NATO gatherings held at the American Ramstein Air Base in Germany to consider providing Kyiv with military assistance.

- US military installations behave “like extraterrestrial zones.
- By 2022, there were over 35,000 American soldiers stationed there.
In addition, Washington continues to hold these talks “as if the Occupation Statute still existed,” and Berlin has also allowed the US to place German tanks in Ukraine‘s “line of fire.”
The decision to remove American nuclear weapons was taken by German lawmakers in 2010, but Dagdelen noted that the weapons are still in place. It is our position that the US should eliminate its nuclear weapons,” she added.
The MP referred to the US administration’s apparent preference for obedient vassals over allies by saying, “The US administration gives the impression that they do not want allies, just loyal vassals.”
Fewer and fewer nations worldwide, according to Dagdelen, are willing to tolerate this. The MP said that respect for human rights and international law should be the foundation of true friendship.
Germany is home to by far the most US military troops of all the European countries. By 2022, there were over 35,000 American soldiers stationed there. The second-largest host of American troops, Italy, is far behind with about 12,000 US military personnel stationed there concurrently.
