No. 12 seed Taylor Fritz defeated defending Australian Open champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round of the competition. Fritz faces Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals after his maiden victory over a top-10 player at a grand slam. Tsitsipas has a long history of success at Melbourne Park; in the last five years, he has made four appearances in the semi-finals, including a run to the final in 2023.

When Novak Djokovic returned to the day session after a 15-match stretch of playing in primetime on Rod Laver Arena, he easily defeated Adrian Mannarino. In the opening two sets, he easily defeated his opponent 6-0 6-0, his first slam victory since 2011. But there was drama in the match as the ten-time champion appeared exhausted and irritated the entire time.

Although Djokovic broke early in the second set and won the first 6-0, she seemed very uncomfortable following long rallies. He received a standing ovation upon arrival and occasionally mistreated the fans during the game. Taylor Fritz will be his opponent in the quarterfinals.

The former No. 1 player in the world of tennis, Lleyon Hewitt, was present at the Australian Open junior tournament to watch his son Cruz compete. Cruz, a 15-year-old with blonde hair and a backward cap, looked promising in his opening match against American left-hander Alexander Razeghi, who is ranked 1237 on the ATP Tour.

Though Hewitt played a strong first game, Razeghi triumphed 6-2, 6-3 in less than ninety minutes. Only Dayana Yastremska, Linda Noskova, Elina Svitolina, and Victoria Azarenka remain in the top half of the draw.
