The United States will send five delegates to the forthcoming UN General Assembly, according to President Biden. Rep. French Hill (R-Ark.), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Rep. Calvin Smyre (D), former Georgia state representative Janet Keller, and Jeff Worthe, owner of Worthe Real Estate Group, are among the nominees.
Since 1998, Lee has represented California’s 12th District, and she presently holds the positions of co-chairwoman of the Policy and Steering Committee, member of the Budget Committee, and member of the Appropriations Committee. Hill has represented Arkansas’s 2nd Congressional District in Congress since January 2015.
UN General Assembly
The other three candidates, who are all from Biden‘s party, have backgrounds in local politics, public administration, and real estate. Smyre was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for 48 years before being proposed as a candidate to represent the United States as ambassador to the Bahamas in 2022.
With the founding of Keller Consultants in 1990 and his service on several leadership boards in California, Keller has more than 30 years of expertise in politics and public affairs.
President of the Santa Monica-based company Worthe Real Estate Group, which specializes in the construction and renovation of office buildings in Los Angeles, Worthe is responsible for the company’s operations.
Meetings and discussions will start on September 18 for the 78th annual session of the UN General Assembly. Each of the 193 UN members, including the United States, is given one vote in the General Assembly on important matters such as the budget, admission of new members, peace and security, and admission of new members.
