Air France has suspended trips to and from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso and Bamako in Mali until Aug. 11, the organization said on Monday, after Niger‘s junta shut its airspace on Sunday, with longer flight times anticipated in the West African area.

Air France Flights Suspended

The disturbance adds to a band of African airspace confronting international disturbances including Libya and Sudan, for certain flights looking as much as 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) in diversions.

  • The Niger airspace was closed because of the issues of the junta.
  • This affects Air France flights too.
  • Some of the Air France flights were suspended due to this issue.

A representative added that Air France expected longer flight times from sub-Saharan center point air terminals and that trips between Charles de Gaulle air terminal in Paris and Accra in Ghana were set to work constantly.

A representative for Brussels Carriers added that flight times could be between 90 minutes to three and a half hours longer for rerouted flights and could incorporate a fuel stop.
