  • The UK is predicted to hit 25 degrees Celsius, raising the possibility of the first heatwave of 2024.
  • The temperature has dropped significantly in northern England and Scotland experiencing a low of -2C last night.
  • There will be varying cloud cover, but most places will stay dry.

In the coming days, the UK is predicted to hit 25 degrees Celsius, raising the possibility of the first heatwave of 2024. Summer highs of 21.8C were recorded on Saturday, raising expectations for a prolonged stretch of hot spring weather.

But the temperature has dropped significantly in the days that have followed, with some areas of northern England and Scotland experiencing a low of -2C last night.

Heatwave in UK

On April 20, though, things will shift, and it will get warmer the following month as well. Exacta Weather’s James Madden forecasts high pressure and more settled weather to arrive, with highs in the mid-to upper-20s for the first time this year and an extended period.

Approaching the conclusion of the month, the Met Office forecasts a “settled” period with average temperatures. They have issued the following long-range prognosis for Monday, April 22 through Wednesday, May 1: “High pressure will be situated near the UK during this largely settled period.”

There will be varying cloud cover, but most places will stay dry. But from day to day, there will be sporadic light rain or drizzle, patchy hill fog, and a few tiny regions or bands of denser clouds. Additionally, there will be a few showers, mostly in England’s east and south.

It will be clear and dry this coming weekend as well, and it is unlikely that the temperature will rise to the highs of a few days ago. While Thursday will be mostly cloudy and breezy across the UK, high temperatures will provide bright sunlight and mild winds.
