For the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N electric hot hatch, which starts at $111,000 plus fees for the road, more than 120 Australians have already made deposits.

On September 15, Hyundai Australia got 126 preorders totaling $2000 apiece over a 12-hour pre-sale. Before local showroom deliveries at the end of this year or the beginning of the following year, the first cars are scheduled to be produced in November.

Depending on the matte, metallic, and $2000 “Vision Roof” panoramic sunroof options selected, the majority of Ioniq 5 N pre-orders will be delivered “no later than early January.”

Pre-orders formally expected to open closer to showroom arrivals and were open for a brief time again at the Melbourne EV Show event.

John Kett, chief operating officer of Hyundai Australia, reported that the pre-sales final deposit was received at 11:35 p.m., just before it closed at 1:00 a.m.

Although it is still too early to tell what kinds of vehicles the Ioniq 5 N consumers are buying, it is anticipated that about 24 of them will originate via social media and the N’s existing online customer groups.

About 78% of buyers for the other models in Hyundai’s lineup are first-time Hyundai customers, while 22% are already Hyundai owners.

Ioniq electric vehicles, including the recently introduced Ioniq 6 sedan and the conventional Ioniq 5 line, are expected to sell between 3,000- and 4,000 units next year, according to the company, which anticipates strong demand for the Ioniq 5 N.
