In her native Colombian town of Barranquilla, a 6.5-meter-tall bronze monument of well-known singer Shakira has been constructed. She strikes a dancing position in the statue, as heard in songs like “Hips Don’t Lie”. Sculptor Yino Márquez and his pupils worked together to make the statue.

Shakira posted a video and images of the statue on Instagram on Wednesday. The 46-year-old’s parents were shown in the photos posing in front of the monument. The Barranquilla mayor was also present for the unveiling ceremony.

A plaque detailing Shakira’s life and charitable contributions is located at the base of a statue. Her birth date is mentioned on the monument, which also highlights her having “a voice that moves masses.”

Her nonprofit, “Pies Descalzos,” which supports early childhood development, is also highlighted. Positive reactions to the statue have been seen from Shakira’s admirers, who have praised both her artistry and charitable endeavors.

Songs like Waka Waka, Rabiosa, Loca, and She Wolf are among Shakira’s best-known compositions. She topped the Google search results for celebrities in 2023, and her song about her ex-husband Gerard Pique set records on YouTube in Latin America.
