Meghan Markle’s Brand Logo Sparks Controversy Over Similarities

  • Meghan Markle‘s new As Ever logo resembles a Spanish town’s historic coat of arms.
  • The town of Porreres claims it’s a “complete copy” but lacks resources for legal action.
  • A New York fashion brand As Ever may also pose trademark challenges for Meghan.

Meghan Markle’s latest lifestyle brand As Ever has already stirred debate, with claims that its palm tree and hummingbird emblem closely resemble the coat of arms of Porreres, a town in Spain.

Adding to the controversy, a New York-based clothing brand named As Ever has been operating since 2015, raising potential trademark issues.

Meghan Markle Faces Trademark and Design Controversy Over As Ever

The controversy surrounding As Ever raises concerns about thorough trademark vetting, as both the logo design and brand name are now facing scrutiny. While Meghan’s team claims to have conducted global trademark checks, critics argue that such similarities should have been avoided, especially given the historical significance of Porreres’ emblem.

The Spanish town’s reaction has been a mix of frustration and amusement, with local officials highlighting the irony that their jam—one of their signature products—aligns with Meghan’s rumored brand offerings. While they have no legal means to challenge the design, they hope international attention will prompt reconsideration from Meghan’s team.

Meanwhile, the presence of an existing As Ever brand in the U.S. could create further complications. If the New York label has trademark protections in place, it could limit Meghan’s ability to expand under that name, particularly in the American market. The founder has stated that he intends to keep the name and explore all legal avenues.

This isn’t the first time Meghan has faced branding hurdles. Her previous venture, American Riviera Orchard, launched with much fanfare but faded quickly. Whether As Ever will overcome these early roadblocks or meet a similar fate remains to be seen.

With both design and trademark controversies looming, As Ever faces an uphill battle before fully launching. If legal disputes escalate, Meghan may have to rethink her branding strategy once again.
