In the third and final One-Day International (ODI), on Wednesday night, Glenn Maxwell repeated his career-best figures of 4-40 to put an end to Australia’s five-match losing record against India with a 66-run victory.

With his 96, Mitchell Marsh led Australia’s batting barrage as they amassed 352-7 and bowled India out for 286 at Rajkot to secure their victory. Australia finished the three-match series on a positive note before the World Cup, which begins on October 5 in India. The hosts won the series 2-1.

Final ODI

Even though Maxwell only managed five runs at the plate, his outstanding off-spin had a significant influence. He believed he had entered the World Cup feeling good and was eager to get started. The all-rounder continued by saying that the all-rounders would play a key part in this World Cup.

After a quick start by India, Maxwell claimed the first three victims, including captain Rohit Sharma for 81 and star batsman Virat Kohli for 56.

After Kohli’s 66th ODI fifty, he quickly sent him back, and despite Shreyas Iyer’s valiant 48, the Indian batting collapsed in 49.4 overs. Australia broke its losing trend thanks to the two wickets taken by pace bowler Josh Hazlewood.

The top four batters shone out, with Marsh, David Warner (56), Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne (72) all helping to contribute to a huge total that appeared to go over 400 before India struck back. Ishan Kishan was forced to sit out due to a virus in the camp, and India only had 13 players to choose from for their starting lineup.
