With 260 million people scheduled to pass through it, the revamped Al Maktoum International Airport is projected to cost AED 128 billion, or $35 billion, over the course of the next ten years.
One million people will be able to live in the completed metropolis that the emirate intends to build around the airport, which would include 400 airplane gates and five parallel runways.
