Daily Restrictions on the Tweet Viewing have been Implemented

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has restricted the number of tweets users can access each day to stop the unauthorized scraping of potentially valuable data from the social media site.

Since Musk purchased it for $44 billion last year, the site has changed its long-standing policy to require users to log in to access tweets and profiles, allowing everyone to browse the conversation on what Musk has frequently referred to as the world’s digital town square.

Daily Restrictions on the Tweet

After scanning through several hundred messages, the limits might cause users to lose access to Twitter for the day. Numerous users complained on Saturday that they were unable to access the website.

As Musk wrote on Friday, the new restrictions were a temporary measure because “there was so much data theft that it was affecting normal users!”

  • Twitter owner restricts daily tweet access to prevent data scraping.
  • Twitter users face potential daytime access issues after scanning messages.
  • Musk details daily post restrictions for authenticated accounts.

Musk has criticized what he claims is the improper exploitation of Twitter data to train well-known AI systems like ChatGPT. They comb through tonnes of web data to produce text, images, videos, and other content that closely resembles human speech.

Musk went into more detail about the restrictions on Saturday, stating that authenticated accounts will have access to 6,000 posts per day while unverified accounts will only be able to scroll through 600.

The criteria would be increased to 800 posts for unverified accounts and 8,000 for verified accounts after receiving negative feedback, but he eventually decided to settle on 1,000 and 10,000 tweets, respectively.

More than 7,500 users reported problems as a result of the Twitter crackdown, creating the popular hashtag #TwitterDown. To increase money, Musk created an $8/month membership service that includes a higher barrier for verified accounts. Since Musk took charge and fired staff, the business’s revenue has decreased. Due to the new material, advertisers have cut back on their Twitter advertising, and Musk has appointed Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s CEO.
