The NSE Nifty50 was trading at 21,380, while the BSE Sensex increased 454 points to 70,824. Both indexes have shown a moderate upward trend despite volatility.
On the Sensex platform, Baxis Bank, Asian Paints, TCS, M&M, Maruti, M&M, and Bajaj Finance are losers. Gainers include IndusInd Bank, SBI, PowerGrid, HCL, HUL, and Tata Steel.
Sensex and Nifty
Shares of Axis Bank fell more than 2% on the private lender’s announcement of a 4% YoY increase in net profit to Rs 6,071 crore for the December quarter of FY24. In the overall market, the BSE Midcap increased by 0.1%, and the Smallcap witnessed a 0.2% increase. Real estate fell 0.4%, but capital goods, metals, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, oil, and gas all saw purchasing.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 27,830 crore during the course of the last five days, which was the main cause of the fall in the overall market.
The Dow finished 0.25 percent lower on US markets, but the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both closed 0.29 and 0.43 percent higher. European markets closed mostly lower, with Germany’s DAX and France’s CAC 40 losing 0.34 percent apiece.
In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading with a loss of 1.0 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.84 percent, and China’s Shanghai Composite was down by 0.14 percent. The price of a barrel of Brent crude futures was down 0.18 percent at $79.41.
