The Philippines’ 905 Competitors will Compete in the SEA Games

The 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will be held in Cambodia in May, and Team Philippines will compete in those games.

With 905 athletes and 257 officials of the Philippines’ team will compete in the SEA Games, according to the final roster revealed by Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Bambol Tolentino following the GA on Wednesday.

That means that even though a special set of rules, particularly in combat sports, flat-out favors the host nation, Filipino athletes will compete for medals in all 608 events across 38 sports that Cambodia has scheduled.

Tolentino expressed confidence that all of these athletes were fighting athletes. There will be no stopping them from competing in all the events, no matter what.

The other nations are not permitted to field entire teams in combat sports during the May 5 to May 17 event, except for the hosts.

The 656 athletes that the nation sent to the Vietnam Games last year to compete in 38 sports, where the Philippines came fourth overall with 52 gold, 70 silver, and 104 bronze medals, will be easily surpassed by this group of Nationals.

The POC also accepted the suspension of the Philippine Swimming Inc. as a regular member during the same GA, and the body made no objections.
