Praggnanandhaa runs out of time and Nurgyul Salimova wins the first match

After their first two games ended in a tie, Arjun Erigaisi and R Praggnanandhaa advanced to the tiebreak’s second round (which had a time limit of 10 minutes for each player plus 10 seconds increment per move, beginning with move 1).

The fourth participant in the FIDE World Cup semi-final will be whoever takes the tie-breaker on Tuesday.

Nurgyul Salimova wins the first match

The victor of the Arjun against Praggnanandhaa game is more or less guaranteed a position in the Candidates Tournament, which is held to determine the challenger to world champion Ding Liren, as Magnus Carlsen has said that he has no interest in competing in it.

Two further games with a time limit of 10 minutes and 10 seconds increments per move will be played if a winner cannot be determined. In one game with a time control of 3 minutes and 2 seconds increment, every move will be played if a winner cannot be determined.

A second game with a time limit of 3 minutes and 2 seconds increment every move will be played if a winner cannot be determined. Until a winner is determined, the game is played in increments of 3 minutes and 2 seconds.

Arjun Erigaisi and Pragnanandhaa will engage in two more 10+10 games. In a tiebreaker for the Women’s World Cup championship, Anna Muzychuk will face Nurgyul Salimova.
