Indian Team Prepares for Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Guwahati

The Indian badminton team will be preparing for the upcoming Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships at a five-day camp at the National Centre of Excellence (NCE) in Guwahati from February 4-8. The team, led by two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and Paris Olympics semi-finalist Lakshya Sen, aims to build upon their previous success, having won the bronze medal in 2023.

This training session provides an excellent opportunity for the players to improve their game and bond as a team before heading to Qingdao for the championships from February 11-16.

Team India Gears Up for Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship: Preparatory Camp in Guwahati

The Badminton Association of India has organized a preparatory camp in Guwahati to help the Indian team gear up for the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships. Set to take place from February 4-8 at the National Centre of Excellence, this camp will bring together 14 top players, including Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and Paris Olympics semi-finalist Lakshya Sen. The camp will emphasize refining both technical and mental aspects of the game, ensuring the players are fully prepared for the upcoming competition.

Sindhu, who recently tied the knot, will look to make a strong return to competitive play. This preparatory camp is a key moment for her to regain focus and train alongside some of the best talents in Indian badminton. Likewise, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are aiming to boost team cohesion and improve their gameplay, ensuring they are ready for the challenges that await in the mixed team event.

The camp’s focus extends beyond individual skills, as the players will work on building teamwork and strong communication within the squad. Badminton Association of India Secretary General Sanjay Mishra highlighted that the camp aims to nurture discipline, sportsmanship, and a cohesive team spirit. With the championships in Qingdao just days away, the camp will provide the final preparation the players need.

The Indian team’s performance in the 2023 championships, where they earned a bronze medal, has raised expectations for the upcoming tournament. With the full team now training together in Guwahati, there is great optimism about their chances. The players will head to Qingdao on February 8, ready to compete for another strong finish.
