The position that all nations should respect sovereignty, the rule of law, and the tenets of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations has been reiterated by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak agreed to keep in touch with Trudeau about the future steps and hopes for a de-escalation of the situation.

Update from Trudeau

According to CTV News, the majority of Canadian diplomats stationed in India have been transferred to either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore as the bilateral diplomatic dispute between India and Canada continues.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has requested a reduction in Canadian diplomats because of their continuing meddling in India’s internal affairs, a request that has been made by the Indian side.

New Delhi demanded a reduction in the number of Canadian diplomats stationed in India and the suspension of visa operations to Canada.

By October 10th, Ottawa must reduce the number of Canadian diplomats stationed in India to a level that is equivalent to the number of Indian diplomats stationed in Canada. India, meanwhile, has categorically denied the allegations, labeling them as “absurd” and “motivated.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asserted at a prior parliamentary discussion that Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a leading Sikh separatist, was shot and killed by the Indian government.
