Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong Decided to Step Down

  • Mr Lee has filled in as the Top state leader and top of the PAP since August 2004.
  • He reported last November that he would resign this year and has previously named Mr Wong as his assigned replacement.
  • Mr. Lee initially intended to step down before turning 70, however, those plans were retired due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Singapore‘s Top state leader Lee Hsien Loong will step down on May 15, with his delegate Lawrence Wong in line to assume control, his office said.

Mr Lee, 72, will officially prompt the city-state’s leader to delegate Mr. Wong, who is right now representative state leader and money serve, to succeed him, his office said in a proclamation.

Mr Wong, who has the consistent help of administrators in the long-administering Individuals’ Activity Party (PAP), will be confirmed around the same time, it said.

Mr. Lee has said there is no great explanation to defer the political progress and that passing the stick to Mr. Wong before public decisions due the following year will permit the 51-year-old legislator to win his order and take the nation forward.
