In a competitive battle against Trump in 2024, Biden asks Obama for his support

Amid a competitive fight against Donald Trump, who is anticipated to be the Republican nominee once more, President Joe Biden has requested Barack Obama to support him in his bid to earn a second term in office in 2024.

Despite being charged with numerous crimes, Trump continues to lead the polls in his party. In June, during a private lunch with Biden at the White House, Obama pledged to do everything in his power to aid the president in winning re-election.

Obama’s support

Obama is the most popular Democrat in the nation, so Biden was keen to win his support. Reports that Obama was hesitant to support Biden for his third presidential run in 2020 have hampered their relationship.

Both in 1988 and 2008, when he lost to Obama, a candidate 19 years his junior, Biden was unable to secure the Democratic Party’s candidacy.

  • Biden seeks Obama’s support for the 2024 presidential bid.
  • Biden unsuccessfully sought Democratic candidacy in 1988 and 2008.
  • Biden addresses Covid, economic challenges, polarization, Ukraine conflict; lacks support.

African American voters and Obama’s election campaigning helped him win the nomination and the general election in 2020.

Despite Trump’s unwillingness to accept and his incitement of a violent attack on the US Capitol, he won the election by more than 7 million votes and a significant margin in the electoral college.

As president, Biden has dealt with a variety of issues, such as the Covid epidemic, economic hardships, political polarization, and Russian aggression against Ukraine. His support is still not that high.
