The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, has hosted the second debate for the Republican Party’s selection for the 2024 US presidential election contender. The Republican National Committee (RNC) is hosting the debates.
The RNC will choose and make public its nominees for president and vice president during its national convention in July of next year. On November 5, 2024, the US will have its presidential election.

The debates spent a lot of time talking about the border, but they didn’t say anything new. Except for Trump, who made it a signature issue, candidates have largely agreed with one another.
Pence talked about cracking down on asylum while dismissing a question on what he would do to protect immigrants who entered the country as young children and the Trump administration’s policy of making asylum claimants wait in Mexico for hearings in American courts. Ramaswamy discussed the idea of removing the constitutional guarantee of citizenship by birth, a position that Trump has considered.
More than halfway through the debate, but there hasn’t been a single mention of the major political issue that could lead to a government shutdown as soon as this weekend: money for Ukraine’s defense against the Russian invasion. Ukraine funding has been the subject of a lot of controversy in the first debate amongst the contenders.
To win over blue-collar voters in Michigan, former President Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration’s drive for electric vehicles, claiming it would result in the “assassination” of the auto sector and the loss of jobs to China.
As a result of his advantage in the national polls, Trump boycotted the second presidential debate in California where his Republican competitors were participating.
Additionally, it was a ploy to undermine President Joe Biden’s support from labor groups in Michigan, whose striking United Auto Workers members are concerned about their job security as the state transitions to electric vehicles.
The sole Republican presidential candidate on TikTok, Ramaswamy, urges youth to avoid “addictive social media.” In response to a query concerning security, Ramaswamy changed the subject to a discussion about border security, mentioning how teenagers are using social media like Snapchat to buy drugs.
Ramaswamy, the youngest candidate on the podium, has called TikTok “digital fentanyl,” but he joined the site earlier this month, as his team claimed he was trying to win over younger people.
