Brittany Higgins About Rape Allegation in the Court

Brittany Higgins has told the Government Court she opened up to the world about a charge she had been assaulted in Parliament House by a partner. She did this as she would have rather not been “complicit” in that frame of mind up. This happened after she separated in tears giving proof about the evening of the supposed attack.

The previous government Liberal political staff member gave proof on Wednesday for Ten. It protects a criticism suit brought against the organization and columnist Lisa Wilkinson by her previous partner Bruce Lehrmann. He guarantees a February 2021 meeting with Higgins claimed he was at legitimate fault for assault.

Higgins, who gave proof the supposed attack occurred in Walk 2019, stated that by 2021, following reports on related subjects, she felt she “was unable to be quiet about it any longer”.

Higgins said she sat tight for Lehrmann in the workplace for what felt like quite a while. Her next memory was awakening in Reynolds’ ecclesiastical suite, she said.

Higgins claimed during her proof that Lehrmann endeavored to kiss her prior days. She charged he assaulted her in Parliament House and took her telephone “jokingly” when they initially met on Walk 2, 2019. This was supposedly to prevent her from leaving a Canberra bar. He has denied those episodes happened.

Lehrmann’s Demonstration criminal preliminary for rape was cut short in October last year because of attendant wrongdoing. The charge was subsequently dropped out and out amid worries about Higgins’ emotional wellness.
