Biden will meet with King Charles and PM Sunak

On Sunday, US Vice President Joe Biden will go to the UK to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and speak with King Charles about climate change. The intimate ties between the two countries are something that the White House wants to strengthen.

On Monday, the president and Sunak will have their fifth discrete meeting in as many months. Their decision to collaborate on cutting-edge technologies, sustainable energy, and essential minerals led to the summit. The NATO meeting and Ukraine are expected to be discussed, according to Sunak’s spokesperson.

Sunak emphasized the value of coalitions in combating contemporary threats to economic and physical security. The UK is at the forefront of giving Ukraine the help it needs to prevail on the battlefield.

The UK is also the most significant trade, defense, and diplomatic partner of the United States. Sunak, a Stanford University graduate, owns a luxury apartment in Santa Monica.

After their relationship cooled under the administrations of Liz Truss and Boris Johnson, Sunak and Biden have patched things up. A high-profile event will be Biden’s visit with King Charles at Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth received Barack Obama and Trump.

King Charles, who is 74, has advocated for and spoken out about climate issues for more than 50 years, and the president is scheduled to discuss them.

Charles’ leadership on the issue was praised by Biden when the two men first met at the COP26 U.N. climate meeting in Scotland two years ago, telling him that “We need you badly.”

Biden and Sunak depart Britain after the meeting and travel to Lithuania, where NATO leaders will convene for a crucial summit. To meet with Nordic leaders, Biden is then anticipated to fly to Helsinki.
