$30 Million to Protect Prime Minister

It cost more than $30 million every year in every one of the last two monetary years to safeguard State head Justin Trudeau and his loved ones. In 2003/04, it cost just $10.4 million to safeguard State head Jean Chrétien and his replacement Paul Martin.

Chamberland said the ascent in costs was the consequence of an expansion in the top state leader’s developments after the pandemic, combined with a boost in compensation for RCMP officials.

The 2021/22 financial year covered the 2021 government political decision — which happened barely a year after military reservist Corey Hurren crashed a pickup truck containing guns into the entryways of Rideau Corridor and went searching for Trudeau.

While it presently costs more to safeguard Trudeau than his ancestors, a large part of the expansion in security costs throughout recent years occurred while Stephen Harper was the top state leader.
