After the election victory, Putin informs the Red Square audience

  • Two Ukrainian drones are said to have been destroyed above Belgorod.
  • Over the Voronezh area, another drone was detected.
  • Putin is attempting to create circumstances that would support a drawn-out battle and an extended occupation of Ukraine.

Two Ukrainian drones are said to have been destroyed above Belgorod, which is near the border between Russia and Ukraine, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The attempts by the Kyiv administration to use aircraft-type UAVs to launch terrorist attacks on Russian territory were thwarted. Over the Voronezh area, another drone was detected.

Vladimir Putin

Recent reports indicate that Ukraine has escalated its attacks on Russia, maybe intending to remind the Russians that they are at war. This coincides with the country’s presidential election, according to some commentators.

Vladimir Putin has been leveraging reported strong election results in occupied territories to support his expected long-term occupation of Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), is attempting to create circumstances that would support a drawn-out battle and an extended occupation of Ukraine.

It is possible that Russian occupation authorities forced Ukrainian residents to vote in the elections and fabricated previously unheard-of levels of support for Putin in occupied Ukraine. Putin again reiterated the notion of a demilitarized “sanitary zone” in Ukraine in reaction to the recent transnational attacks in Kursk and Belgorod.
