Following the deadline expiration on Tuesday,the Pakistani government announced an additional 10-day extension until December 22 for the submission of Haj applications, according to The News International.
The government has lifted the five-year ban on Haj-e-Badal, or the Haj carried out by an individual on account of another, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, as reported by the country’s news daily.
Haj applications
The government of Pakistan has declared that individuals who fulfill their Haj obligations using foreign currency will be deemed the “winners” and no voting will be required.
We are accepting Haj applications on a “first come, first served” basis. The announcement came after Haj expenses were lowered by Rs 100,000 PKR; the pilgrimage the following year is expected to cost Rs 1,075,000 PKR.
There are two packages available to pilgrims: the long package lasts 38 to 42 days, while the short package lasts 20 to 25 days. It will be possible for women to make the pilgrimage without having to bring a male companion as is customary.
Pakistani pilgrims will receive free mobile SIM cards with roaming internet packages from the government. Half of the 179,000 Haj seats that Pakistan has secured are set aside for private Haj operators.
