The Karnataka government: everyone over 60 wears a face mask

Following the discovery of a case of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 in neighboring Kerala, the Karnataka government on Monday ordered those over 60 with comorbidities, fever, coughing, and phlegm to wear face masks at all times.

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao claims that authorities have been ordered to take action, including boosting surveillance in border areas and expanding testing among people who have similar symptoms and suspected illnesses.

He noted that as the situation is being constantly watched, there is now no need for any restrictions on people‘s freedom of movement or ability to assemble, and the government would soon provide an alert.

Based on data from the Union Health Ministry, India has seen 260 new instances of coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,829. There were 5,33,317 fatalities and 4.50 crore Covid cases in the nation.

A total of 4,44,69,931 persons have recovered from the sickness, meaning that the country’s recovery rate is 98.81 percent. Case fatalities as of right now are 1.19 percent.

As of right moment, there are no limits on who can move about or congregate. Face mask use is required for anyone over 60 who have comorbid conditions and exhibit fever, phlegm, or cough symptoms. This directive comes from the Karnataka government.

One of the actions implemented was to increase testing for those exhibiting similar symptoms and suspected cases. Another was to increase surveillance in border regions. A government advisory will be released, and the situation is being carefully watched.

An estimated 1,118,000 patients nationwide were affected during the course of the seven days, according to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.
