The event, presented by HSBC and in collaboration with Vivz Fashion School, celebrated the fusion of Westwood’s punk-inspired aesthetic with India’s deep-rooted textile traditions.

The evening’s spectacle attracted Bollywood celebrities such as Kareena Kapoor Khan. She wore a dramatic red gown with a thigh-high split, further elevating the event’s glamour quotient.

Vivienne Westwood’s debut show in India, held at the Gateway of India, was a milestone event in the global fashion landscape. The show featured the brand’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection. It blended Westwood’s avant-garde punk aesthetic with India’s rich textile legacy. Special attention was given to a capsule collection made from hand-woven Chanderi silks, Khadi cotton, and other traditional fabrics sourced from India. This collection was a collaboration between Vivienne Westwood and Indian textile houses such as Khadi India and Aaranya.

The event was presented by HSBC in partnership with Vivz Fashion School and the Ministry of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra. The evening was an artistic celebration of India’s textile traditions, set against the majestic Gateway of India. It was lit up in vibrant colors. It not only showcased fashion but also highlighted the craftsmanship of hand-woven textiles, which are integral to India’s heritage.

Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan were seen gracing the front row, adding star power to the event. Kareena’s striking red gown with a dramatic thigh-high split made waves. It perfectly complemented the bold and elegant fashion displayed on the runway. Along with her, Janhvi Kapoor and several other prominent figures attended. This signaled the growing relationship between Indian cinema and global haute couture.

Andreas Kronthaler, the creative director of Vivienne Westwood, expressed his admiration for the delicate Khadi and Chanderi fabrics. He praised their lightness and opulence. Carlo D’Amario, CEO of Vivienne Westwood, also highlighted the importance of this collaboration. He emphasized the shared values of heritage and craftsmanship between the brand and India’s artisanal textile industry. The show not only celebrated Westwood’s vision but also acknowledged the immense value of Indian textile artistry.
