  • There may be an impact on train and bus services.
  • Strong winds are predicted for other regions of southern England in Hastings and Brighton.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for today that might be disrupted due to heavy rain and winds as high as 48 mph. Wales and the southern regions of England are under a yellow alert, which has also been imposed in several areas of northern and eastern England.

British homes and businesses might also be impacted, according to forecasters, who also warn that road flooding and spraying could cause delays.

Yellow warnings

There may be an impact on train and bus services as well, resulting in longer than usual travel times. England’s coastal regions, including Dover, may see winds of up to 48 mph today.

Strong winds are predicted for other regions of southern England, with gusts of 43 mph and 44 mph in Hastings and Brighton, respectively. According to Stephen Dixon, a spokesman for the Met Office, the colder weather is typical for this time of year, with some winter showers, especially in Scotland’s higher regions.

In the south, daytime highs through the weekend are predicted to be about 10 degrees, but they might only reach eight degrees further north.

While some southern regions saw temperatures as high as 20C today, the Met Office reported that cooler air is currently moving in from the northwest.

Many locations in the UK will experience a 10C drop in temperature on Saturday due to cold, northerly Arctic winds, in contrast to last weekend when “unseasonably warm air” caused temperatures to surge to the mid-20s.
