France reports cases of bird flu on turkey farms

  • France discovered an outbreak of the highly pathogenic bird flu virus on a turkey farm.
  • Typically striking in autumn and winter, bird flu typically affects Europe.
  • Gove has acknowledged that he neglected to express his support for a lockdown at previous cabinet and COBR meetings.
  • The Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

As a seasonal wave of infections spreads throughout Europe, the agriculture ministry of France announced on Tuesday that they have discovered an outbreak of the highly pathogenic bird flu virus on a turkey farm in the country’s northwest.

Secretary Michael Gove, who is leading the Levelling Up initiative, responded to the COVID inquiry by saying that while he “would not blame” civil servants for problems in the Cabinet Office during the pandemic, he did share Dominic Cummings’ assessment of the dysfunction of the Bush administration.

Bird Flu in Europe

According to the report, there have been cases of bird flu among wild birds in recent days, which led to the outbreak on a farm in the Brittany region. France has increased its alert level for bird flu from negligible to moderate.

Typically striking in autumn and winter, bird flu typically affects Europe and has resulted in the eradication of hundreds of millions of birds in previous years. Many nations, including Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Croatia, and Hungary, have reported finding it on farms recently.

Gove: NHS needed staff

The UK Leveling Up Secretary, Michael Gove, has acknowledged that he neglected to express his support for a lockdown at previous cabinet and COBR meetings. He thinks the prime minister asked him to chair the COBR and that he had expressed his opinions in every forum.

According to Gove, he had described his position earlier, which was “sterner measures, that were required by both the accumulation of evidence and the force of argument.”

He also underlined the significance of the NHS’s capacity, saying that the organization’s physical capacity, equipment, and specialist count are its main sources of capacity limitations.

In addition, Gove cited the Nightingale hospitals, which were established if the NHS became overburdened, saying that, in reality, your primary source of support is the availability of staff who are qualified clinicians.

The Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. However, the meeting was called off abruptly because the Greeks would not publicly advocate on behalf of the Elgin Marbles/Parthenon sculptures.

Greek sources assert that the Greek government‘s stance has not altered in decades and that no firm agreement or assurances were made regarding the artifacts.
