The Wrong Movies have been Submitted to the Oscars

In a casual talk with violinist L Subramaniam, Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman discussed what caused him to approach music composition differently.

On AR Rahman’s official YouTube channel, the video was posted. The topic of Indian films not winning awards was raised by AR Rahman during his chat with Subramaniam.

Wrong Movies for the Oscars

According to reports, he claimed that the wrong movies were being nominated for the Oscars. The discussion took place long before “RRR” and the “Elephant Whisperers” took home the 95th Academy Award.

The music composer emphasized that India has been sending the incorrect films to the Oscars and that when selecting films for the Oscars, we should consider westerners’ perspectives.

When speaking with Subramaniam, AR Rahman discussed how he moved away from writing music with the traditional approach, which involved an entire orchestra, and claimed that he did so by utilizing the development of technology to use fewer players at once.

Although there were only eight songs in the movie, the music composer said that he had composed 16 tracks, and he observed that this provided him the opportunity to experiment without an orchestra and with technology.

The filmmaker also discussed how everything that transpired in the studio was hidden from view, so people only saw his achievement and not a disaster.

AR Rahman, who posted the video with the title “Making Magic with Music,” emphasized how having a home studio offered him the opportunity to experiment with different types of music. He claimed that it was his passion for music that kept him motivated to carry out so many experiments.

He continued by saying that he has always prioritized greater music mastering, distribution, production, and quality and that it still motivates him to give his all on stage.
