In an effort to promote tourism in southern Ontario, the federal government disclosed on Thursday that it was awarding Drayton Entertainment a total of $370,661.
According to Randy Boissonnault, Canada‘s tourism minister, “the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a significant impact on the Canadian tourism economy.”

To meet these challenges, we will support businesses and organizations in developing innovative products and services as well as expanding and developing while maintaining safety as a first priority.
The funding, which comes from the Tourist Relief Fund, will enable the organization to develop a strategy for audience rebuilding as well as for facility improvements and more live theatrical events in the spring and fall.

Drayton produces plays at a number of venues in the Waterloo Area, including the Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge and the Schoolhouse Theatre and Country Playhouse in St. Jacobs.
Additionally, it has opened a kid’s school in Waterloo that caters to individuals eight years of age and older and offers programs and camps.
Moreover, it performs at the Huron County Playhouse in Grand Bend as well as the Drayton Festival Theatre, King’s Wharf Theatre, and Penetanguishene.
