Eight Cosmic Girls have elected to renew their contracts with the company, and Starship Entertainment has verified this. The company also reassured fans that the group will continue to promote itself both collectively and individually in music and other industries.
Eight members of WJSN (Cosmic Girls) have chosen to stay with Starship Entertainment, while five have chosen to depart.

Five members of WJSN—Luda, Dawon, Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi—have reportedly decided not to have their contracts with Starship Entertainment renewed, according to an exclusive report from JTBC. The contracts of the remaining eight members—Seola, Bona, EXY, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung—have just recently been extended.
WJSN had been predominantly active as a 10-member group since the second part of 2018, with the Chinese members Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi carrying out their own activities in China.

Yeonjung joined WJSN in July 2016 after making her I.O.I debut, making the group’s original debut in February 2016 with 12 members. Starship Entertainment has since released a statement confirming JTBC’s allegation.
The statement of Starship Entertainment is as follows: “Initially, Starship Entertainment thank all of the fans—in Korea and abroad—for their unwavering love and support of WJSN. Then they said, the contract is already renewed only for Eight Cosmic Girls.
Seola, Soobin, Eunseo, Dayoung, Exy, Bona, Yeoreum, and Yeonjung are the eight cosmic girls, who are in the new contact. Additionally, Starship Entertainment says thanks to Dawon and Luda for their perseverance and hard work during their promotions.
Starship respects Luda and Dawon’s choices and provides them with encouragement and support as they follow their new directions. Whereas, the team contracts for Yuehua Entertainment performers Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi, who were promoted as Cosmic Girls alongside the other members of the agency, have also expired.
Starship Entertainment aims to concentrate all of its efforts on the eight Cosmic Girls members whose contracts were renewed on the basis of trust and loyalty between them. This will enable the members to shine even brighter in both their collective and individual endeavors”.
