Controversy Erupts Over Explosives and Forest Damage During Kantara 2 Shoot

  • Locals in Karnataka filed complaints against Kantara 2 for disturbing the forest and using explosives during filming.
  • A confrontation between the film crew and villagers led to the serious injury of a local man.
  • The controversy has raised concerns about the safety of wildlife and calls for the shoot’s relocation.

Kantara 2 is facing a backlash from locals in Gavigudda, Karnataka, where a significant portion of the film is being shot. The crew has been accused of filming beyond the allowed area, disturbing the forest and using explosives that endanger wildlife.

Tensions escalated when crew members were confronted about their actions. In the ensuing altercation, a local villager was assaulted and severely injured.

The controversy surrounding Kantara 2 has sparked a wave of anger from locals, particularly in the Gavigudda region near Heruru village, where filming has been ongoing. Accusations of environmental damage and illegal use of explosives during the shoot have led to serious public backlash. The filming was authorized to occur within a grazing area, but the crew allegedly extended operations into the protected forest zone.

The situation reached a breaking point when the crew’s use of explosives was questioned by villagers. A confrontation led to a violent incident where a local man was physically assaulted by a crew member, resulting in hospitalization. This has further fueled the controversy, drawing sharp criticism from the community.

The filmmakers’ actions have been met with accusations of endangering wildlife, as the explosives have caused alarm among locals who fear that animals might move into residential areas. The damage to the forest area is also a significant concern, with reports indicating that this could disrupt the local ecosystem and affect the safety of surrounding communities.

The Kantara 2 team has not yet issued a statement addressing the allegations, but the situation remains tense. The locals have demanded the filming be relocated to prevent further disturbances. With the prequel still in production, the controversy is casting a shadow over what was once a highly anticipated continuation of the Kantara franchise.

The controversy surrounding Kantara 2 has raised serious questions about the environmental impact of film shoots and the safety of local communities, with locals demanding accountability.

“If the forest area is being disturbed, the animals will come into the residential areas, and that’s dangerous,” said Sanna Swamy, a local Zilla Panchayat member.
