Elon Musk has commented on the report that Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney is creating a new documentary about him.
The film‘s title was revealed on Monday, February 6 by the filmmaker, who called it a “definitive and unvarnished study” of the multi-billionaire tech entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter. Musk merely said: “It’s a hit piece” in response to a tweet about the news on Tuesday.
A New Document of Oscar-Winning Director
“I’ve been working on this film on and off for a long time, and I’m very excited about it,” Gibney revealed in a statement. This excellent team that is working with me makes me very happy. Onward!”
Zhang Xin, the founder of Closer Media and one of the film’s producers, explained: “Ellon Musk is one of the world’s most influential figures, and now is the time for a rigorous portrait.”

Taxi to the Dark Side, Gibney’s 2007 film centered on the December 2002 killing of Afghan driver Dilawar by American soldiers at a black site at Bagram air base during extrajudicial detention and interrogation. Gibney won an Academy Award for the film.
Also, he produced the documentaries Steve Jobs: Man in the Machine, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, and Enron: The Smartest Men in the Room.
The BBC docuseries The Elon Musk Show was broadcast last year, and Gibney’s Musk is the follow-up. The controversial businessman’s family, friends, and colleagues were interviewed for the series. The release date for Musk is still unknown.
