Gavin Plumb, a man, has been accused of soliciting murder after an alleged conspiracy to abduct TV host Holly Willoughby. Additionally charged with inciting a kidnapping, Plumb works as a security guard at a retail center in Harlow, Essex.
He was remanded into custody after making a brief appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and will next be seen there on November 3 for a hearing to enter a plea.
Kidnapping Plan
The 36-year-old is accused of “proposing to a third party” to kill Willoughby between Tuesday and Wednesday and “soliciting, encouraging, persuading, endeavoring to persuade or persuading or encouraging a third party to do so.”
Additionally, he is accused of creating a plot with a third party and putting together an abduction and restraint kit that could encourage or aid in the kidnapping. Next week, the other man is scheduled to fly into the UK from the US.
According to Det Supt Rob Kirby of the Essex Police, the investigation proceeded at a breakneck rate, with several officers and national colleagues working late into the night to secure these charges. ITV spokespeople have given Holly and her family all the assistance they need during this difficult time.
This Morning hosts have spoken about their amazement and sympathy for Holly and her family. Before her appearance on This Morning, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak gave his support to Willoughby as Lorraine Kelly voiced her distress for Holly.
The accusations come after a trying few months for the presenter of This Morning since 2009, Holly Willoughby. Phillip Schofield, her co-host, quit in May and later admitted lying to his peers about having an affair with a younger coworker. Although she promised to continue as a presenter, Willoughby took the summer off from the show.
