Bengaluru International Film Festival 2025 to Celebrate Global Cinema

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the government’s support for the film industry during the press conference. He also revealed that the budget for this year’s festival has increased to Rs 9 crore, compared to Rs 7 crore last year. Moreover, the government is investing in the future of Kannada cinema, announcing plans for a new Film City in Mysuru under a public-private partnership model, to be built on 110 acres of land.

This year’s event marks an important step in promoting Kannada cinema, which is at the forefront of the festival’s agenda. The government has been proactive in supporting local filmmakers, implementing initiatives such as the establishment of a selection committee to provide financial assistance to Kannada films.

The Chief Minister also revealed that the festival’s budget has been raised to Rs 9 crore, further underlining the state’s commitment to the growth of the film industry. The event will begin with an inauguration by the Chief Minister on March 1, and the closing ceremony will take place on March 8, attended by the Governor.

In addition to the film screenings, the festival will feature a variety of cultural events. The government has also committed to the development of a Film City in Mysuru, aiming to foster both regional and national cinema production. This initiative is seen as a long-term effort to establish Karnataka as a key hub for the Indian film industry.

The Bengaluru International Film Festival will not only celebrate global cinema but also significantly support local filmmakers, with a clear focus on the promotion of Kannada cinema and the establishment of the Mysuru Film City.

“Cinema is the most powerful art form to connect people globally, and we are thrilled to welcome such a wide range of international filmmakers.” — Siddaramaiah.
