A High-Rise Skyscraper in the UAE is Destroyed by Fire

In the city of Ajman, UAE, a large fire broke out in a residential high-rise. The event happened on Monday night in Ajman One’s Tower 2. Police and civil defense teams responded quickly to the scene and put out the escalating fire. According to the daily Khaleej Times, no injuries have yet been reported.

Ajman Police’s Director-General of Police Operations, Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, informed the newspaper that a mobile police station was sent to the scene of the accident to offer certifications and other tools for locals to be able to record the loss of property. The mobile station additionally aided in site security.

A High-Rise Skyscraper

Ajman and Sharjah hotels were able to accommodate the thousands of residents who were successfully evacuated from the building without incident. According to Khaleej Times, the emirate’s Transport Authority sent seven buses in conjunction with the Red Crescent to ferry inhabitants from Tower 02 to hotels in Ajman and Sharjah.

The firefighters can be seen fighting to contain the fire as it spreads to multiple levels of the high-rise complex in the videos posted on social media.

Days after the UAE‘s Ministry of Interior published information on the sharp increase in building fires, the event on Monday was reported. More than 3,000 accidents were reported in 2022, 2,090 in 2021, and 1,968 in 2020, according to the official statistics.

The majority of the fires, according to the data, were reported from populated areas. 1,385 occurrences involved either homes or apartments, whereas 256 involved fires in businesses, 153 involved farms, and 122 involved public services.

The number of those killed or hurt during the incident was not included in the ministry’s statistics. According to the Khaleej Times, a major in Dubai’s fourth floor of a residential building resulted in sixteen fatalities and at least nine injuries this year in April.
