Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has passed on at 95 years old, the Vatican reported.
His demise on Saturday came days after Pope Francis had requested supplications for his ancestor, saying he was “exceptionally wiped out”.
The Sacred See Press Office said Benedict, the first German pope in quite a while, kicked the bucket at the Mater Ecclesiae religious community, which he had picked as his home subsequent to leaving in 2013.

His body would lie in state from Monday in Holy person Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican said.
