Dubai Customs has significantly bolstered its efforts against drug smuggling with state-of-the-art technologies, achieving 1,273 seizures across land, sea, and air borders. Utilizing drones, AI-powered systems, and advanced X-ray scanning at ports like Jebel Ali, they have reduced manual inspection times from six hours to just five minutes.

In one of their most notable operations, Dubai Customs collaborated with an Asian country to intercept 700 kilograms of Methamphetamine powder, valued at $310 million, concealed within a cargo ship.

Securing Dubai’s Borders: How Advanced Technology is Redefining Customs Operations

Dubai Customs continues to lead the charge against drug smuggling with a comprehensive approach that integrates AI, drones, and sophisticated scanning systems. The Siyaj system, bolstered by high-resolution cameras and sensors, enables preemptive detection of contraband, ensuring stringent monitoring across customs ports.

This proactive stance has resulted in notable interceptions, including the prevention of 234.68 kilograms of hashish from entering the UAE through detailed inspections aided by endoscope technology.

At the heart of their strategy lies the Jebel Ali Port, where the implementation of world-first X-ray scanning systems has revolutionized inspection capabilities. These systems not only expedite the process but also enhance accuracy, crucial for identifying hidden narcotics within the diverse cargo. Beyond technological investments, Dubai Customs employs K9 units and rapid response teams, ensuring swift action against suspicious activities and reinforcing the country’s stance against drug trafficking.

Dubai Customs’ relentless adoption of advanced technologies underscores their commitment to securing borders while facilitating international trade. By leveraging cutting-edge solutions from drones to AI-driven analytics, they set a benchmark in combating drug smuggling, ensuring a safer environment for all stakeholders involved in global commerce.

“Using advanced technology, Dubai Customs director Rashid Al-Dhabbah Al-Suwaidi emphasized, ‘Our integrated systems and rapid response capabilities are pivotal in safeguarding our borders and maintaining Dubai’s status as a global trade hub.'”
