Australia’s cricket squad for the first game of their series against Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship has been revealed. The squad will be captained by Pat Cummins, with Travis Head and Steve Smith named as vice-captains.
Head received a promotion as a result of his consecutive game-winning performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semifinal and championship, where he was named Player of the Match.
Playing Lineup
After missing international cricket because of a calf injury, spinner Nathan Lyon is back in the starting lineup. Since then, he has resumed playing cricket domestically and has represented New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup.
Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, and Head form a potent middle-order partnership that will lead the innings. David Warner will open with them.
In red-ball cricket for Australia, Alex Carey will wear the gloves while Mitchell Marsh will fill the role of all-rounder. The three fast bowlers will be Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins.
