BLACKPINK’s Historic Win and Solo Ventures

In December 2023, YG Entertainment announced that none of the BLACKPINK members renewed their individual contracts with the label. Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo launched their own solo labels, while Rosé continued under THE BLACK LABEL. Each member has been actively pursuing solo projects, with Jennie working on her first solo album, Lisa making a comeback with “ROCKSTAR” and venturing into acting, and Jisoo wrapping up filming for two new projects.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards marked a significant achievement for BLACKPINK, as they became the first girl group to win an award since Destiny’s Child in 2005. This milestone solidified their global megastar status. BLACKPINK, formed by YG Entertainment in 2016, quickly rose to international fame with hits like “How You Like That,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” and “BOOMBAYAH.”

In December 2023, all four members of BLACKPINK decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment. Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo launched their own solo labels, while Rosé continued her career under THE BLACK LABEL. Each member has been busy with solo activities this year. Jennie is working on her first solo album, Lisa released a single titled “ROCKSTAR” and is set to debut in “The White Lotus 3,” and Jisoo finished filming for “Influenza” and “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.”

Despite their solo endeavors, BLACKPINK has announced plans for a comeback in 2025 with new music and a world tour. Their journey from their debut in 2016 to becoming global superstars has been marked by numerous achievements and chart-topping hits. The group’s impact on the music industry and their massive fanbase continue to grow.

BLACKPINK’s recent achievements and their ongoing solo projects highlight their individual talents and collective impact on the global music scene. Fans eagerly await their 2025 comeback and world tour, anticipating more groundbreaking music and performances from the iconic group.

“BLACKPINK in your area! Thank you so much BBMAs and Billboard.” – Rosé
