The Information, a news publication, published on Saturday citing persons with knowledge of the statistic, stated that OpenAI’s annualized revenue just reached $1.6 billion due to robust growth from its ChatGPT product, up from $1.3 billion as of mid-October.

According to the article, the conditions, valuation, and timing of the investment round have not been decided upon and may change. According to the source, OpenAI and Abu Dhabi-based G42 have also discussed raising money for a new chip business.

Although OpenAI has talked about raising between $8 billion and $10 billion from G42, the report stated that it is unclear if the chip venture and broader corporate finance were related.

According to the report, OpenAI is expected to conclude its tender offer, spearheaded by Thrive Capital, in early January. This will enable its employees to sell shares at a valuation of $86 billion.
