Microsoft Expands India Operations with ₹520 Crore Land Acquisition in Pune

  • Microsoft acquires 16.4 acres in Pune’s Hinjewadi for ₹520 crore.
  • Follows previous major investments in Hyderabad and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
  • Part of the company’s broader infrastructure expansion in India.

Microsoft has continued its strategic expansion in India by purchasing a 16.4-acre plot in Pune’s Hinjewadi IT hub for ₹520 crore.

This acquisition underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its commercial real estate footprint in the country, especially in data centers and office spaces.

Microsoft Invests ₹520 Crore in Pune to Strengthen Indian Operations

This investment aligns with Microsoft’s previous real estate deals in India. In 2022, the tech giant bought 25 acres in Pimpri-Chinchwad for ₹328 crore, followed by a 48-acre purchase in Hyderabad earlier in 2024 for ₹267 crore. With over 23,000 employees and operations across major cities, Microsoft is solidifying its presence in India’s growing tech market.

This is not the first large-scale real estate investment Microsoft has made in India. The company previously secured 25 acres in Pimpri-Chinchwad and 48 acres in Hyderabad, both critical for its expanding data center and office infrastructure. These acquisitions reflect Microsoft’s intention to scale up its operational capacity in India’s key tech hubs.

Microsoft’s presence in India is already substantial, with data centers in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. Additionally, the company employs more than 23,000 people across cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The acquisition in Hinjewadi enhances Microsoft’s ability to serve its growing customer base and provide robust cloud and tech solutions.

As India’s technology sector continues to grow, Microsoft’s increasing investments showcase its confidence in the market’s potential. The Hinjewadi acquisition serves as a critical move to further its leadership in the country’s tech landscape, ensuring a stronger infrastructure for future innovation.

Microsoft’s latest land acquisition in Pune signifies its commitment to expanding its infrastructure in India. As the country’s tech sector flourishes, the company’s strategic investments position it as a key player in supporting India’s digital future.

“India has emerged as one of Microsoft’s fastest-growing markets, and our continued investments in its infrastructure underscore our belief in its potential.” – Microsoft India Spokesperson.
