Ambani Attends Trump-Qatar Emir Meeting as Boeing Secures Record $96 Billion Aircraft Deal
Mukesh Ambani’s presence at the state dinner in Doha underscores his strategic networking. Reliance Industries continues to attract significant foreign investments. Notably, Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, QIA, has been a key investor in Ambani’s businesses. This aligns with his global expansion strategy.
The dinner, held at Lusail Palace, also marked Ambani’s second notable meeting with Donald Trump since his return to the White House in January. The first meeting was during a private candlelight dinner attended by a select 100 guests. This dinner included Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, on the eve of Trump’s inauguration.
The spotlight of the event, however, was the signing of a $96 billion deal between Qatar Airways and Boeing. The deal includes 160 firm orders for 787 and 777X jets, with options for 50 more aircraft. It marks the largest order for wide-body jets in Boeing’s history. General Electric’s GEnx and GE9X engines will power the aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026.
Trump, who praised the agreement as a significant boost for the US aerospace industry, is set to continue his Middle East tour with a visit to the UAE. There, he aims to explore further investment opportunities. This deal further cements Boeing’s dominance in the Middle Eastern aviation sector amid increasing competition from Airbus.
Mukesh Ambani’s attendance at the state dinner alongside Trump and Qatar’s Emir signals his ongoing efforts. He aims to reinforce global business connections amidst pivotal economic agreements.
“It’s over $200 billion, but 160 in terms of the jets—that’s fantastic,” — Donald Trump on the Boeing-Qatar Airways deal.
