Over the course of their lives, the installations should limit CO2 emissions to 207,000 tons. Apple’s move coincides with the company’s increased expenditures in India, as it shifts half of its supply chain from China to India in response to growing labor costs and the ongoing US-China trade spat.

Over the next three years, Apple’s industrial ecosystem may generate 50,000 direct jobs in India. Apple is also in advanced discussions to manufacture iPhone camera modules in the nation alongside Titan, a division of the Tata Group, and Murugappa Group.

Government funding is expected to be provided to Tata and Murugappa for them to open semiconductor chip foundries in India. Foxconn, Tata, and Salcomp, suppliers and assemblers of iPhones want to attract additional Indian laborers to their supplier network by offering homes to their staff.
