The event, held at Samarinda Airport near the new capital city Nusantara, highlighted their advanced air mobility technology and the potential for integrating air taxis into local transportation networks.

Officials from the Indonesian transport ministry and Nusantara Capital City Authority attended the demonstration, showcasing the practical application of Hyundai’s innovative transport solutions.

The event highlighted the capabilities of the Oppav air vehicle, which is powered by Hyundai’s advanced powertrain technology. The vehicle, developed in collaboration with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, flew a predetermined 2-kilometer route, offering a practical glimpse into the future of air mobility.

Indonesia’s unique geographical landscape, comprising over 18,000 islands, presents substantial opportunities for air mobility. The country’s dispersed population and challenging infrastructure make it a prime candidate for the implementation of advanced air transport solutions.

The collaboration between Hyundai Motor Group and Indonesian authorities aims to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive air mobility network in Nusantara. This initiative includes planning, validation, and local demonstrations to integrate air taxis into the new capital’s transportation system, showcasing the potential for innovative solutions in overcoming transportation challenges.
