Sri Lanka Navy Conducted Special Operations to Chase Away Indian Poaching Trawlers

  • The Sri Lanka Naval force has held onto 31 Indian fishing boats poaching in Sri Lanka waters and caught 195 Indian anglers in 2023.

The Sri Lanka Naval force led extraordinary tasks to pursue away Indian fishing boats poaching in Sri Lankan waters on Wednesday (06) evening which prompted the capture of 04 Indian fishing boats and 21 Indian anglers that kept on leftover in Sri Lankan waters off Mannar and Kovilan, Kankasanthurei.

Special Operations to Chase Away Indian Trawlers

One fishing vessel and 8 anglers were caught while poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Mannar and three fishing boats and 13 anglers were secured while poaching off Kovilan, Kankasanthurai.

The Naval force conducts ordinary watches and tasks in Sri Lankan waters to check unlawful fishing rehearses by unfamiliar fishing boats, considering the outcomes of these practices on the business of nearby anglers and marine assets of the country.

Following these worries, the poaching fishing boats and anglers have been given over to pertinent experts for legitimate activity.

The caught Indian anglers (21) and the poaching fishing boats (04) were brought to the Talaimannar Wharf and Kankasanthurai harbor and they will be given over to the Talaimannar and Jaffna Fisheries Investigators for legitimate activity.
