Indonesia to allow visa-free entry for Indian travelers: details

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has proposed free entry visas to travelers from 20 countries, including India. This comes as the country aims to boost tourist arrivals and bring about a multiplier effect on the economy.

“In addition to the prevailing visa-exempt international locations, the ministry has proposed 20 countries with the most foreign travelers,” Indonesia Tourism Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated.

Issuance of free entry visas

The provision of free entry visas to 20 countries is expected to increase foreign tourist arrivals, creating a multiplier effect.

This will boost domestic consumption, attract investment and support the growth of the digital economy, he pointed out, adding, “we’re focused on satisfactory vacationers, specifically those staying longer and spending more inside the nearby economic system,” he pointed out.

The 20 countries include Australia, China, India, South Korea, USA, UK, France, Germany etc.

According to official data, there were more than 16 million foreign arrivals to Indonesia in 2019 before the pandemic.

Indonesia received 9.49 million foreign visitors from January to October this year. This represents a 124.3% increase over the same period in 2022.
